novoflow-SSDF: Single Shaft Disk Filter

The SSDF system is characterized by rotation of filter disks in the feed liquid and extraordinary low energy consumption of about 0,12W/1m² filter surface area.
Test plants are available in different sizes.
Deliverable plant sizes range from 1 m2 and 500 m2 filter area.
Optimal Applications:
- High concentration
- High levels of suspended solids.
- Viscous media
- Continuous concentration of recyclable fractions and active substances
- Emulsion separation
- Diafiltration (Washing solids out of liquids or vice versa)
Advantages and Special Properties:
- Energy savings of over 90 % vs. traditional cross-flow modules
- Compact and flexible modular design. Easy plant scalability, inspection and maintenance.
- Highly efficient overflow and cover layer prevention due to a special combination of centrifugal (rotation) and shear (turbulence created by baffles) forces.
- High rotation speeds of 500 r. p. m. and more with disk diameters of 312 – 500 mm.
- Trans membrane pressures are independent of over flow speeds and are equal over the entire filter area.
- Minimal foot print: max. 0,8 x 0,8 m2 per 1- 15 m2-plant
- Easy assembly and disassembly
- Automatic back-flushing
- CIP-compatible
Mode of Operation:
- A rotating membrane stack is mounted on a hollow shaft and placed inside the filter pressure vessel (module).
- Filtration is performed from the outside through the membranes to be collected inside the filter disks and eventually discharged via hollow shaft.
- The filter pressure vessel can be equipped with fixed or flexible baffles in order to create sufficient turbulences.
